Idols Stolen from Temple


BRAHMANBARIA, BANGLADESH (DHAKA TRIBUNE) — A gang of robbers stole 6 brass idols from the temple.

Six brass idols have been stolen from a temple of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (Iskcon) temple in Nasirnagar upazila of Brahmanbaria district. A gang of robbers entered the temple breaking six locks early Sunday.

Confirming the matter, the temple's caretaker Nokul Ananda Brahmachari said: "The rooms of the devotees were locked from the outside during the robbery. The robbers looted six brass idols, some cash, and gold ornaments."

However, he could not give an estimate of the looted cash and gold.

On the other hand, Nasirnagar OC Abu Zafar said: "Six brass idols are missing from the temple. The robbers took Tk1,500 from the donation box but no gold was stolen in the incident.

"Drug addicts or just random thieves might be involved with the robbery."

He said a case will be filed in this regard.
