Sri-Sri Radha-Krishna Are Everywhere in the World

BY: MAYESVARA DASA - 6.9 2019

The following verses are spoken by Sri Krishna to Sri Radha, and are taken from the Brahma-Vivarta Purana, chapter 67, 'Adhyatmika-yoga-kathana' (Description of Spiritual Enlightenment)

yatha nalam kulalas ca
ghatam kartum mrida vina
aham seshas ca kalaya
svamsena tvam vasundhara

tvam sasya-ratnadharam ca
bibharmi murdhni sundari
tvam ca kantis ca santis ca
murtir murtimati sati

"As a potter cannot create a pot without clay, so I cannot create the worlds without You. I expand as Lord Sesha and You expand as the Earth, the resting place of crops and jewels. Then I carry You, the Earth, on My head. O beautiful one, You are beauty, peace, form, gracefulness, saintliness" (Brahma-vivarta Purana, Krishna Janma Khanda, Chapter 67, Verses 76-77)

The English synonyms for the above Sanskrit verse are as follows:

Let us love and respect the Earth considering it as an expansion of Sri Radha. Let us know and glorify the real form of the Earth (Bhu-mandala).

THE EARTH RESTS ON ANANTA-SESHA, BUT EVERYTHING RESTS ON SRI RADHA

"Sri Krsna said: Goddess, please listen and I will describe to You the yoga of the Supreme, a yoga even the kings of the yogis cannot understand, a yoga that cuts grief into many pieces.

O beautiful one, consider this: The entire universe is constructed of two things: resting places and things that rest in them. It is not possible for a resting thing to be separated from its resting place.

For the fruit the resting place is the flower. For the flower the resting place is the twig. For the twig the resting place is the branch. For the branch the resting place is the tree itself.

For the tree the resting place is the sapling. For the sapling, which is manifest from the seed, the resting place is the seed. For the seed the resting place is the earth.

For the Earth the resting place is Lord Sesa. For Lord Sesa the resting place is the great tortoise beneath Him. For the tortoise the resting place is the wind. For the wind the resting place is I Myself.

For Me the resting place is You. I always rest in You. You have all powers. You are the root from which the material nature has sprung. You are the Supreme Goddess.

You are the resting place of all bodies. You are the resting place of the three mode of nature. You are the resting place of Me, for I am Your heart. Without You I cannot act. Only by Your grace have I the power to act." (Sri Brahma-vaivarta Purana, Canto Four (Sri Krsna-janma-khanda), chapter 6, verse 207-213)

VRINDAVANA IS THE MOST EXCELLENT PLACE IN THE UNIVERSE, AND SRI RADHA IS THE MOST EXCELLENT IN VRINDAVAN

The following verses are from the Padma Purana:

"The goddess, full of Krishna, and the highest deity is called Radhika. She is of the nature of all beauty and of the nature of Krishna's joy. Therefore, 0 brahmana, she is called Hladini by the wise. Durga and others having the three constituents (like Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas) are a part of the croreth portion of her. She is actually Mahalaksmi, and Krishna is lord Narayana. 0 best sage, there is not the slightest difference between the two. She is Durga (i.e. Parvati); Hari is Rudra. Krishna is Indra; she is Indrani. She is Savitri; Hari is Brahma. She is Dhumorna; Hari is Yama.

0 best sage, what is the use of (speaking) much? There is nothing of the nature of living or non-living that is without them. The whole world is full of Radha and Krishna. In this way, 0 Narada, that all (this) is the splendour of the two. It is not possible for me to describe it even (if I do so) for hundreds of crores of years. In the three worlds the Earth is venerable; Jambudvipa is better than it. In it Bharata country (is excellent); in it the city Mathura (is the best). In it the (grove) named Vrndavana (is excellent); in it the group of Radha's friends is excellent. In it Radhika is the best." (Padma Purana, V, 81.52-56)

We should note here that Bharata-varsha is described as part of Jambudvipa which is part of the greater Earth circle (Bhu-mandala). Bharata-varsha is never described in Vedic literature as being an isolated globe floating in space. Vrindavan which is located in Bharata-varsha is the most excellent place in the universe. Sri Radha is the most excellent in Vrindavana. A study of Vedic cosmology reveals that there is no better place in the universe to take birth than in Bharata-varsha. Bharata-varsha refers not just to India, but to all of the continents of our known area of the Earth (and even to places beyond the boundaries of our known world).

The above verse also teaches us that Sri Radha pervades the universe: "The whole world is full of Radha and Krishna." The immanence and transcendence of Sri Radha is described in the following verses from Narada Pancaratra:

apurva brahma-rupa ca
brahmanda-paripalini
brahmanda-bhanda-madbyastha
brahmanda-bhanda-rupini

"She is unprecedented (apurva), spiritual (brahma-rupa), the protectress of the universe (brahmanda-paripalini), the goddess who enters the material universe (brahmanda-bhanda-madbyastha), the goddess who Herself is the material universe (brahmanda-bhanda-rupini).

anda-rupanda-madhyastha
tathanda-paripalini
anda-bahyanda-samhartri
siva-brahma-hari-priya

"She is the goddess who is the material universe (anda-rupa), the goddess who has entered the material universe (anda-madhyastha), the protectress of the material universe (anda-paripalini), the goddess who is beyond the material universe (anda-bahya), the destroyer of the material universe (anda-samhartri), and she who is dear to Siva, Brahma, and Visnu (siva-brahma-hari-priya)." (Sri Radha-sahasra-nama, the Thousand Names of Sri Radha from the Narada Pancharata)

SRI KRISHNA IS THE FATHER OF THE UNIVERSE AND SRI RADHA IS THE MOTHER

sri krsno jagatam tato jagan-mata ca radhika

"Krishna is the father of the universe and Radhika is the mother" (Narada Pancharatra, second ratra, chapter 6, verse 7)

SRI SRI RADHA-KRISHNA ARE IN THE HEARTS OF ALL LIVING BEINGS

The following verse was spoken by Sri Krishna to Sri Radha:

jiva-slishtas tatha kale
mriteshu jivishu priye
avam cavidyamanau ca
satatam sarva-jantushu "When a living entity becomes liberated he comes to Me at the time of his death. O beloved, You and I are always present in the hearts of all living beings." (Brahma-vivarta Purana, Krishna Janma Khanda, Chapter 67, Text 48)

SRI RADHA APPEARED TO SANCTIFY THE EARTH

On the happy occasion of Sri Radhastami, let us meditate on the great love that Sri Radha has shown to the world; Sri Krishna to Sri Radha:

putam kartum bharatam ca
vrndaranyam ca sundari

"O beautiful one, You have come here to sanctify the earth." (Brahma-vivarta Purana, Krishna Janma Khanda, Chapter 67, Verse 66)

putam - purified; kartum - to make; bharatam - the earth
