The present video looks at Hinduism and its major sub sects. Hinduism can never be viewed as one monolith tradition or a unitary practice. Historically the religious beliefs and practices of the Hindus were too divergent to constitute a coherent, monolith religious system that has been a part of the imagined image of Hinduism in modern times. Many Gods and Goddesses are worshipped, some of them forms that are at a considerable distance from Sanskritic textual depictions. Visnu, Shiva and Devi are the principal deities but they have many forms and there are many more deities. There are three major sects of Hinduism, namely, Vaisnavism the members of which worship Vishnu, Saivism the followers of which worship Siva and Saktas or the worshipers of Shakti. Each of these sects is further divided into sub-sects.
